KANSAS CITY, MO – The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City (HCF) is accepting nominations for the 2011 Healthy Lafayette Award. The Healthy Lafayette Award is given to a Lafayette County resident or organization that is working to eliminate barriers to quality health for the uninsured and underserved.

The Health Care Coalition of Lafayette County was the first recipient of the Healthy Lafayette Award in 2010. Healthy Lafayettte is the first in a series of awards to be given out throughout the year to leaders in Allen County, Kansas; Cass County, Missouri and the Kansas City metro area.

“Last year we were overwhelmed by the many individuals and organizations that were nominated for the Healthy Lafayette award. There are so many people that are working tirelessly to help those in Lafayette County to lead healthier lives and we are honored to be able to recognize those efforts,” said Steve Roling, President/CEO of the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.

The recipient will receive a plaque and a $5,000 grant if it is an organization that is eligible for HCF funding. If the recipient is an individual or a for-profit organization, the $5,000 grant will be awarded to the Lafayette County health-related nonprofit organization that the recipient designates.

Nomination criteria and application is available at www.healthcare4kc.org. Nominations will be accepted through December 31, 2010. The nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges representing the HCF Board of Directors, Community Advisory Committee (CAC) and associates. The recipient will be announced in February 2011. Current and former HCF Board of Directors, CAC members and associates are not eligible.
