Mr. Powell was appointed to the board in February 2014 and served as vice chair in 2016. He was elected as board chair in 2017. He is the vice president of membership and contracting at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City.

Thomas Carignan

Mr. Carignan was appointed to the board in April 2012. He was elected as vice chair in 2017. He is vice president at EFL Associates.


Judge Ann Mesle (Ret.)

Secretary

Judge Mesle was elected as secretary in 2017. She practiced law at Lathrop & Gage for 18 years before serving on the 16th Judicial Circuit for 12 years. Judge Mesle has served on a variety of non-profit boards focused primarily on legal, educational and children’s activities.


Chuck Foudree

Mr. Foudree was appointed to the board in January 2016. He retired as the executive vice president of Harmon Industries, Inc.


Mary Ann Arnott

Programs & Grants Committee

Ms. Arnott was elected to the board in December 2016. Now retired, she was a speech/language clinician for various Allen County and Shawnee Mission schools.


Marshaun Butler, M.H.S.A.

Programs & Grants Committee, Chair; Executive Committee

Ms. Butler was appointed to the board in February 2015. She is vice president of Children’s Mercy South & Regional Medical Practices.


Pat Contreras

Mr. Contreras was elected to the board in December 2017.


Tom Cranshaw

Mr. Cranshaw was appointed to the board in February 2014 and served as secretary in 2016. He recently retired as CEO of Tri-County Mental Health Services, a safety-net provider.


Jim Dockins, Ed.D., FACHE

Dr. Dockins was appointed to the board in April 2015. He is an assistant professor of Healthcare Leadership at Rockhurst University’s Helzberg School of Management.


Alan Flory

Administration & Logistics Committee; Programs & Grants Committee

Mr. Flory was appointed to the board in February 2014. He is the president and CEO of ReDiscover, a nonprofit community mental health agency.


Spence Heddens

Audit Committee, Chair; Executive Committee; Finance & Investment Committee

Mr. Heddens was appointed to the board in January 2016. He retired as an executive at Bank of America.


Garland Land, M.P.H.

Executive Committee; Programs & Grants Committee

Mr. Land was appointed to the board in April 2012. Now retired, he is the former executive director of NAPHSIS.


Michael O’Dell, M.D., M.S.H.A., FAAFP

Programs & Grants Committee

Dr. O’Dell was appointed to the board in February 2016. He is the chair of the Department of Community and Family Medicine at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and serves as the associate chief medical officer at Truman Medical Center’s Lakewood campus in Kansas City, Missouri.


Jim Pryde

Mr. Pryde was elected to the board in December 2017.


Kim Riley

Ms. Riley was appointed to the board in January 2016. She is a community advocate for WellCare Health Plans.


Roy L. Robinson

Mr. Robinson was appointed to the board in February 2015. He was elected as treasurer in 2017. He retired from the Archer Daniels Midland in March 2009.


Julia Simmons, M.D., M.B.A., FAAP

Dr. Simmons, M.D., MBA, FAAP,  was appointed to the board in January 2016. She works at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics.


Stephenie Smith, MSW

Ms. Smith was appointed to the board in December 2016. She is the executive director at Linwood YMCA.


Peg VanWagoner

Finance & Investment Committee, Chair; Executive Committee

Ms. VanWagoner was appointed to the board in February 2015 and served as treasurer in 2016. She is a senior consultant at DeMarche Associates, Inc.


Donnie Wilson
