HCF Grant Report: Community Garden Funding 2007-2010

The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City (HCF) committed approximately $1 million to support nine community garden projects from 2007 to 2010. These programs provided garden plots, fresh vegetables, and nutrition training to approximately 2,244 people (1,887 children and 357 adults) in HCF’s six county service area.


New Study Shows Positive Relationship Between Physical Fitness and Academic Test Scores Among Kansas Students

During the 2011-2012 school year, 152 schools representing 40 school districts across Kansas submitted FITNESSGRAM data on more than 17,000 students. The findings of the study highlight aggregate, de-identified data from more than 13,000 students in grades 4-9.
