HCF Hosts Promising Practices in Care Coordination Conference

On July 9, HCF will host “Promising Practices in Care Coordination” for health and health care professionals interested in learning about promising models in care coordination. The forum will feature Dr. Jim Walton, Vice President of Health Equity at Baylor Health Care System, and a panel of HCF grantees who will share lessons learned from the implementation of care coordination projects. The event will be from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Kauffman Conference Center. Register here.

HCF Welcomes New Program Officer

In June, HCF welcomed a new member to its associate family. Brenda Calvin has joined the foundation as a program officer. Calvin comes to HCF from Hallmark where she has spent the past 12 years at Hallmark as a grantmaker, program manager and community relations representative.  She has held many volunteer leadership roles with local agencies or in support of community initiatives.

HCF Accepting Letters of Intent for Safety Net Funding

HCF has issued its 2010 RFP for Safety Net Health Care. Letters of Intent for Safety Net funding will be due on July 28, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.; full proposal due on August 25, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. Grant awards will be announced on November 18, 2010. HCF will be awarding $5.25 million in Safety Net grants.

HCF to Bring in Alliance for Justice for Worry Free Lobbying for Non-Profit Conference

HCF and the REACH Healthcare Foundation will again bring in Alliance for Justice to hold a workshop for non-profits. The workshop will take place on October 21 from 1- 3:30 p.m. at the Pioneer College Auditorium (2700 E. 18th Street). The Alliance will talk about how nonprofit organizations and foundations can take advantage of provisions in federal law that encourages lobbying activity. HCF will begin taking registrations later this summer.
